Cyclocross clinic and Strava.

This weekend unofficially kicks off 'cross season with the John Gantz Memorial Cyclocross Clinic.


Today is the LAST day to register for this #getrad event which will be under the guidance of the Ayatollah of 'Cross-ola, Sean Mealey. 


Registration is an easy $20 which the funds go towards a YAMBA membership. Well, I don't need a membership you say...or, that club is too far away, no need to support them, right? Wrong. The trails we run on and mountain bike on need upkeep and if you live in MD/VA, there's a chance you might wander north some day and session either Lake Redman or Rocky Ridge, so it's for a good cause folks! <stepping off soapbox now>

Also, I've added a Strava widget to our blog, down on the lower right panel of the blog. It seems that I've been sucked into the world of 'study hall arm wrestling' called Strava, since getting a Garmin 500 for my 40th birthday. (thx babe!) Now you can keep up with our shenanigans on all things two wheels and two feet. 

2011 Keystone Velo Racing CX Season Recap- Owen Brenneman

Mike B's son Owen had a tremendous 'cross season, racing against guys mostly 4-5 years older than him. With a, 'never say die' riding style and an overall body weight of a fifth of Jack, Owen was an inspiration to us older cats racing every Sunday.

2011 Keystone Velo Racing CX Season Recap- Mike Brenneman

I met Mike for the first time a couple of years ago, through mutual friends at a Social Distortion show. It seems we have traveled similar paths and circles yet never crossed paths at a younger age. Now we're crossing bikes on the same team. (Yeah, that was corny.) 

Mike's son Owen races with us too, in the Junior field. It's been a good family affair I've enjoyed watching between the two of them.

2011 Keystone Velo Racing CX Season Recap- Shane McCready

I ran into Shane this summer at the Wednesday Worlds. It was one of those deals where he joined the team, sent a message to me on Facebook stating he'd see me at the training race and I never realized who he was until the evening was over and everyone was back at the parking lot regrouping. Basically, I remember his jersey the laps, marked him and left him. If I knew then what I know now, I would have worked with him throughout the laps.

2011 Keystone Velo Racing CX Season Recap.

The bulk of the sponsors have put pen to paper and the new kit design for 2012 has been firmed up. Somewhere along all the excitement, I pushed the recap videos I shot of the guys, to the bottom of my messenger bag.

Well for one easy installment of $59.99 Vimeo Plus is born for our use. I've whipped the videos over to the site and will be punching them into this blog throughout this week. Sort of the only time I feel I'll be able to do a VOD.
