The off season shouldn't mean your form is off.

With much motivation to kick off the new year with some saddle time, I joined the team on January 1 for a mountain bike ride at Rocky Ridge County Park in York, PA at 9am. The next 90 minutes of pedaling reminded me of a couple things:

1- I need to ride the mtb more as my form from cx racing has evolved into what could be best described as...pedal your a$# off like you're on a track bike. This doesn't work well when riding rocky terrain as you need to time your pedal strokes between the rocks. This lack of adaption from one bike to another has left my pedals and crank arm ends battered from Sunday's trail session. Yikes.

2- The ground is loamy and features loads of grip.Tire pressure is key and so is proper cornering technique. This video does a great job of explaining how to carry speed through a fast corner. (scroll down to How to Corner video)

Let's use the winter to get back to the basics and polish your riding technique!
